The Fibrpro ® Trench Cover System was selected for the following reasons:

- Light in weight
- Tailor-made to fit the trench as-built condition modular components
- Long service life
- Low maintenance cost

Concrete blocks that cover the underground passage for wires and tubes are extremely dense and heavy. Each block can weigh over 150 kg. As a result when a component requires maintenance or a new component is added these blocks become a huge obstacle as they are heavy to lift and put back.

Due to the heavy weight of the existing concrete blocks they posed a threat and a costly hassle. Plants were normally required to remove blocks and for some blocks not accessible by road multiple people were required to lift a single block out. Therefore tubes and wires were often left out on the open ground creating other risks.

Fibrpro ® designed and tailor-made FRP trench covers to replace all these floor blocks. Each cover unit weighs as less as 15kg resulting in an easier task to replace or carry out maintenance work. Various shapes and sizes were made in order to fit the original concrete blocks that had varying shapes due to the variation in sizes.
